Richard Vuijk
Richard Vuijk is a clinical psychologist and psychotherapist working at Sarr Autisme Rotterdam, part of Antes within the Parnassia Group. He is the owner of AutismeSpectrumNederland, a training practice for mental health professionals, and he is a lecturer and course leader at the Parnassia Group Academy and various regional institutions for continuing education and training in mental health care (RINO). He conducts research into psychodiagnostics, personality (pathology), and psychotherapy in adults with autism spectrum disorder (ASD). In 2022, he obtained his PhD from the University of Amsterdam with a thesis entitled Adults with autism spectrum disorder: Diagnostic assessment, personality (pathology), and psychotherapy.
In 2023, he published the third, completely revised edition of the Dutch Interview for the Diagnosis of Autism Spectrum Disorder in Adults (NIDA) (first edition 2014, second unaltered edition 2016) and in 2018, the Werkwijzer – Psychodiagnostics of autism spectrum disorder in adults, both made available free of charge for careful diagnosis of ASD in adults.
For his research into schema therapy in adults with ASD and personality disorders, he received an honorable mention at the National Autism Congress in 2016 and the Jeffrey Young Investigator Award from the International Society of Schema Therapy in 2018. His publication “Autism and/or a personality disorder? GZ-psychologie, 12(5), 21-23′ from 2020 was ranked second in the Top 5 most read premium articles online in 2020 by the journal GZ-psychologie. At the RINO Group in Utrecht, he was voted teacher of the year 2021-2022 in the specialist training program for clinical neuropsychologists.
