MDth Elsa van den Broek

Elsa van den Broek MDth, drama therapist, supervisor of schema therapy practitioners, has over 25 years of experience working as a drama therapist in various institutions for the treatment of adults, and since 2000 has focused on forensic psychiatry. Since then, she has integrated the principles of schema therapy into her work as a drama therapist. She specializes in working with forensic patients with personality disorders, motivation problems, and substance dependence. She has conducted research into the effectiveness and effects of combining schema therapy and creative therapy and has published her findings. She has shared her enthusiasm for schema therapy, and especially its combination with drama therapy, with others through bachelor’s and master’s programs at HAN University of Applied Sciences, as well as through workshops, masterclasses, and conferences in the Netherlands and abroad. She currently works as a drama therapist at the Kairos forensic outpatient clinic of the Pompestichting and teaches at RINO Amsterdam, in addition to supervising professional therapists for registration as schema therapists.
